Bio

Donald McKinley Glover Jr. (born September 25, 1983, California; raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia) is an American actor, musician, comedian, writer, and director who performs music under the name Childish Gambino. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2006, then broke into television writing for Tina Fey’s 30 Rock at age 23. He rose to wider prominence playing Troy Barnes on NBC’s Community (2009–2014), before creating, writing, and starring in the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta (2016–2022), winning Emmy and Golden Globe awards. Under the Childish Gambino name he has released five studio albums and scored a historic sweep of the Grammy Awards with “This Is America” (2018). His film work includes Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story and Simba in The Lion King, and he continues expanding as a creator with Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024).
